who’s insurance pays for the passenger’s injuries?

I was involved in a car accident today and I had a passenger in my car with me during the accident. I’m studying Criminal Law in college and took Torts and Personal Injury and I’m quite sure I’m correct on this but some one please correct me if I’m wrong (no smart ellick remarks either folks) but wouldn’t my insurance cover the passenger’s injuries and the other driver’s insurance would cover my car and any damages that I sustained?
I guess the one thing I forgot to mention was that the other driver wasn’t paying attention and drove out into the oncoming traffic and hit me on the passenger side of my car. I tried to swerve to avoid being hit by him but it didn’t pan out that way.
