If I was to leave my dog, who has vicious tendancies, tied up outside the supermarket (just for 5 minutes) & someone happens to touch her & she bites, would i be liable?

I believe there are several factors to take in such as obvious risk – The person should know that touching an unknown dog may result in injury.
But in saying that, a dog which has vicious tendancies should be mussled.
Again, this has not happened, just crossed my mind today & wanted other peoples opinions.
